Salkantay Trek - 5d / 4n
- Trek Salkantay is a 51 km long hike with 6-7 hours hike per day. It is a path oriented to travelers who like challenges and witness the different microclimates, discover the mysteries of the Andean world and landscapes that the trail has to offer in a single trip to Machu Picchu.
- We invite you to discover and enjoy in these 5 days the variety of climates, from the very cold and icy weather through the Salkantay mountain (4,600 masl) to a semitropical climate and to see in the last day one of the wonders of the new world Machu Picchu.
- Cusco: Pick up from hotel.
- Always in the center of the city and prior coordination with the operator.
- For places outside those limits, you must coordinate with the Operator the feasibility of your pick-up or meeting point or additional cost.
It starts with picking up the hotel in Cusco (5:00 am) and transferring it in tourist mobility to the village of Mollepata where we will have a stop to have breakfast and present our team who will accompany us throughout the trek. Then we will move to Marqoq'asa where the walk will start to the viewpoint where we can see 2 valleys (Mollepata, Marqoq'asa).
Then we will continue the walk to Soraypampa where we will have a deserved lunch and then ascend for 1 hour-30 minutes until we reach the Humantay lagoon (4,220 meters above sea level). After appreciating this beautiful place we will descend to Soraypampa.

On the second day you will have more hiking trails than walking. While you work a little harder to get to the top, the views at the top are even more amazing than we can see. Then it is a pure descent path with full stones, descending to an area of tropical forest more within reach at the end of the Salkantay mountain.
A glass of hot Coca tea is served in their stores to relieve the cold morning. We prepare all our equipment to start this beautiful day of trekking to the pass of Salkantay and the experience in the cloud forest and the day of the subtropical forest.

It is a beautiful mountainous landscape in the morning, a natural green trail and reach to the beach; with some river flowing from the main river of the Sacred Valley of the Incas: The Urubamba.
Most of the time we will be near the white river of Salkantay, finding in our walk a lot of wild strawberries (of course, if it were the season). Wild flowers abound, orchids, some birds, fruit passions, avocados, coffee plantations, bananas, pineapples, etc. The walk will last approximately 5 hours; the camp is in the settlement of La Playa.

We left La Playa very early in the morning to avoid the humid blow of the sun, to do a little trekking towards our last step of the whole trip. We follow the original Inca Trail from Lucmabamba to the Llactapata Pass, crossing the Santa Teresa Valley with a wider variety of landscapes (green nature and a quiet Inca trail).
Upon reaching the ruins of Patallacta, we have the first view of Machu Picchu and all the Andes mountains in the area that are incredible views. We also explored the Llactapata Incan site. Then we descend through lush forests of bamboo and coffee (Valle de Aobamba) along a path back to Hydro (2 hours of extreme descent to the river bank).
From the Aobamba river, the road to Hydro is easy to walk to the village of Aguas Calientes "the last two and a half hours we followed the train track" .

- Breakfast and early transfer to go by tourist bus to Machu Picchu, the trip takes about 30 minutes. During the trip we will have an incredible view of the landscapes of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba and the Amazon rainforest that gives you a small indication of how much Peru has to offer.
- Upon arrival in Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas", you will have a pleasant guided tour to visit the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock "Intiwatana", the Royal Quarter, the Temple of the Three Windows and several cemeteries.
- Then, at the right time, you will go down to the town of Aguas Calientes to take the train that will take you back to the village of Ollantaytambo and then we will take the mobility to Cusco.
