Itinerary
Day 1
Visit to the city of Cusco and Nearby Archaeological Sites
- 13:00 - 13:40: Passenger pick-up service.
- 13:40 - 14:35: The tour begins by visiting the Santo Domingo Convent that was built on the Inca temple of Coricancha, one of the most important enclosures dedicated to the cult of the sun. Ancient chronicles say that its walls were covered with gold leaf and filled with gilded representations of nature.
- 14:40 - 15:25: Visit the Cathedral of Cusco, the most imposing monument of the main square that has countless works from the Cusqueña school, combining the styles of European devotional painting of the 17th century, with the symbolism of indigenous artists from the Andes of Cusco.
- 15:40 - 16:30: Then head towards the Cusco hills where the Sacsayhuamán fortress is located, whose imposing walls offer an impressive panoramic view of Cusco.
- 16:35 - 18:15: Continue to Qenqo, an archaeological complex for religious use where it is believed that the Incas practiced rituals related to agriculture. The tour continues in Puka Pukara, “red fort” in Quechua; an architectural complex of supposed military use, with multiple rooms, squares, bathrooms, aqueducts and towers. It is believed that it was used by the Inca entourage while the leader was resting in Tambomachay, which is the last archaeological stop on the tour. It is believed that it was a place of worship to water, which had an extraordinary hydraulic system.
- 18:15 - 18:45: After finishing your tour, return to your hotel.
