Kuelap or Cuélap is an important archaeological site in Peru built by the Chachapoyas culture. It forms a large stone architectural complex located on top of a mountain at 3000 meters above sea level. It is located on the left bank of the Utcubamba River, in the province of Luya. To visit it, we now have the first cable car system in Peru.

09:30 We will start a 30 min walk. Approx.

They were found in the Karajía ravine in the Luya district of the Amazonas Department, Peru) in 1985 by the Peruvian archaeologist Federico Kauffmann Doig thanks to references provided by Carlos Torres.

10:25 Funerary site of the Sarcophagi of Karajía, a set of funerary statues, located on an inaccessible rocky outcrop.
13:00 Later, mobility will take us to Luya – Lamud. There we will enjoy a delicious regional lunch.
2:00 p.m. 20-minute trip Approx to reach the CAVERN QUIOCTA. Following the visit, in the afternoon we will enter the Quiocta Cavern, where we will be able to observe thousands of stalagmites and stalactites of different shapes and sizes. This place was used by the ancient Chachapoyas as a cemetery. On the tour we can see bones scattered throughout all environments.
16:30 We will return to the city of ChachapoyasThe Gócta waterfall is an impressive waterfall that measures 771 meters, at some point it was considered the third highest waterfall in the world, currently it is in the fifteenth position. Locally it is called La Chorrera and was discovered in 2002 by the German Stefan Ziemendorff, who noticed its existence when exploring some sarcophagi located on the opposite side of the Utcubamba valley, in the province of Luya-Lamud, department of Amazonas.

09:30 We will start our walk, and exuberant vegetation typical of the cloud forest, habitat of the Cock of the Rock,
Emerald Tucaneta, hummingbirds among other birds of the place. After some time at the waterfall and taking photos, we return to Cocachimba.
